My wife and I own a sweet, cozy bungalow in Saint Paul that has a very typical short half story. We have three rooms upstairs, with one of the rooms only having a 6ft tall ceiling. It’s a decent-sized room but not very functional for a guest bedroom or etc.
We have been in our home for about a year now and the short-ceiling room just collected crap and really was an eyesore. So, the other weekend we set out to turn it into a full walk-in closet! The project took about a weekend to complete and has turned out quite well.
We also did everything on a tight budget, not wanting to buy some fancy $2000+ closet storage solution, so naturally, we turned to IKEA. After some research and planning, we purchased their BOAXEL closet system for about $200 (an incredible deal!).
From there the rest of it was DIY closet rods from Menards and various cube storage systems (you just can’t get rid of them!).
We are in the process of working on building an island that will go in the middle of it all – you can always follow along with our home projects more in-depth via Instagram too! Cheers!
